Korean literature is a valuable asset that deeply reflects the lives, emotions, history, and culture of the Korean people. Therefore, the process of reading and understanding Korean literature goes beyond learning Korean and is a way of learning the culture and identity that the Korean language lives in. “Understanding Korean Literature for International Students” captures a balance of expertise and educational approach to the history of Korean literature, from ancient literature to contemporary literature from the 2000s, in line with the eyes of international students learning Korean. In particular, for international students who are new to Korean literature, we introduced trends in the history of Korean literature and major works representing each period according to the intermediate and advanced levels of the Korean Language Proficiency Test. In addition, “understanding content, expressing thoughts, and task activities” were presented to enable teaching-learning.? Understanding the content: Identifying the details of each chapter's history of Korean literature by period? Expressing thoughts: Appreciation of major works and expression of learners' thoughts related to the work? Project activities: I hope that international students will experience the beauty and depth of Korean literature and expand their understanding of Korean language and culture through this textbook, including comparison, introduction, and discussion of Korean literature and the learner's home country. I hope that the Korean language journey for international students will unfold in a richer and more meaningful way by crossing this bridge.
