・MKE 400 is an ultra-lightweight mini shotgun microphone for digital single-lens cameras with excellent mobility. -Equipped with a screw-type accessory shoe adapter for easy attachment to the camera.

The combination of an extremely compact yet sophisticated interference tube and high-quality microphone capsule and preamplifier provides sharp directivity without sacrificing sound quality. Furthermore, a high-performance rubber cushion is used at the connection point to the camera to prevent the sound of the SLR camera's lens drive and handling noise from reaching the microphone. One of its great appeals is that it can run for about 300 hours on a single AAA battery.

FAQ~Frequently Asked Questions~ Q Does it work with phantom power or plug-on power? A The MKE 400 cannot be operated with external power sources such as phantom power or plug-on power. Powered only by AAA batteries.

Q: What is the role of the switch on the product? A MKE 400 has two types of switches on one side. On the right side of the indicator is the "power switch + low cut switch", and the settings are "off", "on + low cut", and "on" from the right. Use the low-cut function when you are concerned about wind noise when using outdoors. If wind noise still enters the audio, we recommend using the optional accessory MZW 400. The left side of the switch is called the ``vol (sensitivity changeover) switch,'' and from the right are ``+ (high sensitivity)'' and ``- (normal sensitivity).''

Q Which setting is recommended for the vol (sensitivity switching) switch? A The MKE 400 has a normal sensitivity of "-" based on the assumption that it will be used to make the sound louder with the amplifier installed in a digital SLR camera, but in actuality, the output from the microphone is deliberately reduced. Additionally, some digital SLR models are equipped with amplifiers that produce a lot of noise or have poor linearity (the ability to accurately make the sound louder). Therefore, we recommend setting the microphone to "+ (high sensitivity)" and adjusting the volume of the SLR camera to a low setting. If the following situations occur when the volume of the recording target is high or the sound source is close to the microphone, set it to "- (normal sensitivity)". ・If the meter continues to swing even after the volume of the SLR is turned down (the input level exceeds the allowable input level of the SLR) ・If the meter of the SLR camera is not completely off, but the sound is distorted (distorted at the microphone)

Q When I turn on the power, the indicator lights red and then goes off immediately. Is this normal? A It is by design that the red indicator disappears immediately and is normal operation. This is a specification to extend the usage time. When the battery is low (less than about 50 hours on a typical alkaline battery), the indicator will always turn red. Please consider replacing the battery.
