This work is based on a design created by a Japanese designer, and is made from cotton cloth that was woodblock-dyed by an Indian craftsman in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.
I wanted to make something using block printing, a traditional Indian technique, so I started by making cloth, and it took two years from planning, and after a lot of time and effort, it was finally completed by the hands of many people in Japan and India.
●Azuma bag recommended points
- Fold small and always carry it in your bag to use as a sub bag or eco bag.
・It is convenient for traveling if you arrange them by size. Not only can you use it to sort your luggage, you can also carry a change of clothes in it at a hot spring, and you can use it as a bag when you go for a walk.
- Can be used as an inner bag for large bags or basket bags. The cloth is carefully selected in India, which is said to be the origin of cotton cloth, and is washed with water many times during the dyeing process, making it soft and gentle to the touch.
It has a light and soft texture that is unique to Indian cotton.
●About woodblock dyeing (block printing)
This is a traditional Indian dyeing technique in which woodcuts are made in the same number of colors for each design, and then stamped over and over to create a single piece of cloth.Everything from carving the design into the wood to completing the print is done by hand, without the use of machines.
A craftsman carves the woodblock prints to ensure that they are perfectly accurate, and a craftsman stamps the woodblocks by hand without leaving any gaps so that the seams are invisible, and accurately overlaps multiple colors.
Finishing a single piece of cloth requires a high level of technical ability, experience, and the hands of many people.
Compared to mechanical printing, which can print a large amount of prints in an instant, it creates job opportunities for many times more people.
Please understand the following two points when purchasing.
[There may be misalignment of the pattern, bleeding, uneven coloring, or color scattering]
These are the characteristics of woodblock dyeing that are unique in the world, and give it a deep charm.
[The position and direction of the pattern are not constant]
It may differ depending on where it is cut, but the overall impression will be the same.
How to care
Woodblock dyeing (block printing) may cause color fading when washed.
Be sure to wash separately and gently by hand with a non-fluorescent detergent.
Also, avoid using bleach or oxygen-based detergents, and dry in the shade as much as possible after washing.
