Description
Kiso geta have ancient origins. Approximately 300 years ago, the shogunate presented them with a certificate certifying their craftsmanship as made from precious Kiso wood. They were transported on horseback to faraway destinations like Edo and Owari, where they gained popularity. After the Meiji Restoration, production was temporarily halted, but at the beginning of the Showa era, the beautiful grain and color unique to Kiso's nezuko wood, as well as its light weight and water resistance, were rediscovered, and today, their comfortable fit is beloved by many. Their smooth feel and rustic elegance make them a world-class product. Our artisans handcraft each geta, adhering to traditional methods. While they may stain if exposed to rain, this does not affect their comfort. They are also resistant to rot.
